May 2015 Resource Consent has been received for the building of 11 twenty metre berths (D Pier) stern to on the Northern Breakwater. The berths to be aligned similar to the boats shown in the April 2010 photo (see below).
We have had a busy summer despite the very changeable weather. We trust all visitors have enjoyed their stay at our marina and we look forward to seeing you back next summer.
Our wifi hotspot has been upgraded to a Zenbu system giving us better coverage and a much easier means of buying data. Go to https://secure.zenbu.net.nz/login/?logout=true and this data allowance can be used at any Zenbu site in NZ, there are over 1000 of them. Data can also be purchased at the marina office, useable only at the marina.
Whangaroa has been quiet over the winter however there is already a lot of interest and berth bookings for the coming summer season. The 8.0m berths are very popular and need to be booked in advance.
We look forward to welcoming all visitors to the beautiful Whangaroa harbour.
From August, Pete Sehmb joined us as our new manager as did Will (William) White as assistant. Having two staff available for the busy summer period and the day to day marina duties being shared at other times will improve our service to berth owners and visitors. Bookings are coming in fast for the summer holidays and the gamefishing season, the 8m trailer boat berths in big demand for this period. Contact Pete or Will for berth availability.
All the marina extensions and maintenance work was completed by Christmas 2009. The new extension designed to accommodate trailer boats up to 8.0m for short stays has proved very popular over the summer period. Bookings are recommended for next summer season.
The summer in Whangaroa has been one of the best in memory and the marina has been almost full for the holiday period and the gamefishing season. We hope to see you all again next year. One of the highlights was the

Fuel The diesel only fuel facility on the Clansman wharf is now operated by the Whangaroa Marina Charitable Trust in conjunction with Gasoline Alley Services (GAS). The fuel pump is a self serve terminal that accepts, Eftpos, Visa,Mastercard, Farmers Card, BP, Diners and the GAS/Diners card.
Construction has begun of a new small pier to accomodate the Whangaroa Coastguard vessel 'Whangaroa Rescue' and 14 x 8.0m berths for accomodating the many trailer boats that visit Whangaroa to enjoy the excellent fishing in the area. The pier and extensive maintenance work being carried out at the same time will be completed by mid December.These are designed for short term rental but longer stays can be arranged with the manager. Demand for these is already strong.
We are looking forward to another busy summer season with Whangaroa Marina becoming increasingly popular with visiting boat owners.
A new 24 hour CCTV surveillence system has been commissioned as well as a new security coded gate with video coverage. As well as the whole marina, the carparking areas on the public road in front of the Gamefish Club and the Marlin Hotel are covered. All traffic entering and leaving the Whangaroa 'Village' is recorded 24 hrs. The Marina also now has a wireless 'hot spot' and internet access can be obtained from the Marina Manager.
A very successful 'kid's' fishing and fun day was held on the marina in conjunction with the Gamefish Club and local organiser Tracy Ratcliffe. Funds were raised for local charities. A great day was had by all.
A Happy and successful New Year to all our berth holders and visitors. The summer has been very busy with the great weather here in Whangaroa the 'jewel of the north' The game fishing season is now starting with several tournaments happening over the next few months. Our new facilities block has been a great addition to the marina.

Doug Kane resigned as our manager and Alan Sharp was appointed to the role. We wish Alan all the best and are sure this summers visitors will receive a courteous and friendly welcome from Alan to the Whangaroa area and our Marina.
On 13 September and afternoon function was held for berth holders to unveil the memorial plaque to Roger Oly and Colin Archer who were the two of the original trustees instrumental in establishing our marina. The new managers and trustees were introduced to past and present berth holders.
Our new permanent office/facilities block is now available for the use of berth holders and visitors. The office, toilets, showers and laundry are all located in the floating pontoon at the head of B Pier
