Coastguard Whangaroa

Coastguard VHF Channels: 

CH 04:  Use East of the Cavali Islands for best reception for Coastguard trip report and emergency channel and is manned 24 hours per day.  It also broadcasts the latest Met Service weather at 08:30, 12:30, 16:30 and 20:30. 

CH 05:  Use West of the Cavali Islands for best reception for Coastguard trip report and emergency channel and is manned 24 hours per day.  It also broadcasts the latest Met Service weather at 08:30, 12:30, 16:30 and 20:30. 

CH 64:  Is used for ship to ship calling and other local recreational activities such as Sport Fishing Club Tournaments. This channel is manned by a shore based operator only when necessary.

CH 16:  Marine Distress Channel for all urgent distress calls.

The coastguard vessel KAHURANGI (call sign "Whangaroa Rescue") is based in the Whangaroa Marina and is manned by Coastguard trained local volunteers.

 

 

 


Whangaroa Sport Fishing Fishing Club.

Whangaroa Sport Fishing Club is host to many fishing tournaments throughout the year and has its clubrooms at the entrance to the marina. Visitors are welcome and meals are available at most times during the summer months.
